If you have been living under a rock for the past five years, first let us fill you in by telling you what Bookstagram really is. Well, if we go by the textbook definition, Bookstagram is an Instagram account about books with pictures dedicated to displaying everything bookish.

Just picture Instagram hitting it off with books and getting it on, really. Book lovers use a series of bookish hashtags; participate in special bookish events and themes, and usually post pictures that involve bookshelves, book spaces, and of course, a book or books.

From colorful flatlays to surreal minimalist pictures, #Bookstagram is a wide range of aesthetically pleasing Bookish pictures that are an absolute treat to the eyes. Bookstagram serves as a home for every book lover out there through its fun reading challenges, bookish hauls, shelfies, and Book reviews.

From creative inspiration to recommendations for new books to read, Instagram is a great place to turn for all things book-related. In Pakistan, the trend of clicking aesthetic pictures of current reads and sharing it with the world started back in 2015 and gained immense popularity among the Pakistani reader community because it provided all the closet readers a platform to share their love for books and everything about it. The hashtag #Bookstagrampak started by @Urooj.reads has now more than 24,000 posts under it which are increasing day by day.

Now, we present you a list of local book lovers that are enthusiastic about clicking their reads and flaunting them on Instagram. Later in the year 2015, I myself (@Fareeha.reads) started the hashtag #Bookstagramurdu to create an online community of Urdu readers from all around the globe which has thousands of posts under it as well. The accounts we have chosen today will definitely prove to be therapeutic for the bibliophile in you.

Syeda Urooj Fatima @Urooj.reads

Juggling through med school and her passion for blogging and make-up, Urooj Fatima did not give up on her inner bibliophile, being the foremost and most brilliant of all she has a massive audience of both Pakistani and International readers. Her feed is an absolute surreal treat featuring YA fiction and her furball cat.

Hira has a major thing for Harry Potter and all things fantasy. Yellow and Blue are the most dominant colors of her feed which makes it so eye-catching that one cannot help but keep scrolling.

Farhina Siddiqui @shelovestoread

Hands down! We are bedazzled by the level of creativity this girl possesses. Every picture is so unique and creative yet her feed is so consistent and gives a warm and cozy vibe. Her book reviews are so sound and opinioned and her book suggestions are already on our tbr list.

Fuzeela is a literature major in love with historical fiction and classics and her feed speaks for it. She stirs the absolute magic with her self-portraits and sets the mark way up in the game for all the newcomers in the Bookstagram world.

Zainab @Abibliophilesobsession

Filled with beautiful contemporary fiction and fandom merch; Zainab’s feed is dark and beautiful. She plays with shadows and light and gives us the best of her shelf.
