Book Review
Colleen Hoover has a unique way of adding magic into her books. She doesn’t just tell a story—she makes you feel every emotion as if you’re living it. Heart Bones takes you on a journey filled with love, sorrow, and hope. When I picked up this book to read, I thought it was going to be a typical love story, but I was proven wrong. There is so much more to this book—a tale of survival, healing, and finding a place to belong.
Beyah always had a life full of challenges and hardships. She didn’t have her mother’s support, and she had no hope for her father’s support either. Her survival was extremely tough. After one tragedy, when she had to stay with her father, her entire point of view changed. There, she meets a boy named Samson. He may appear classy and rich, but deep down, he is just as broken as Beyah. Over time, they begin to understand each other, but can love survive when both are hiding secrets?
The best thing is that the story is fast-paced, but emotions haven’t been rushed. Beyah’s character was highly relatable—she had always fought her battles alone, but over time, she learned that sometimes, it’s okay to lean on others. Samson’s character remains a mystery, and when his secrets finally come to light, they change everything. Their journey is filled with moments of vulnerability, making their bond feel authentic. As the story progresses, the emotional intensity grows, drawing readers deeper into their world. The revelations not only shift their relationship but also redefine their individual paths, making the story even more impactful.
Colleen Hoover has beautifully portrayed the contrast between privilege and struggle—for those who live a comfortable life, this may just be a story, but for those who have experienced hardship, this book will feel like a reality check and would find it very relatable. I really liked this book. It’s not just a love story but also a story of survival. If you enjoy emotional stories with strong characters, you should definitely read Heart Bones. I’d rate it 4.5/5.
